I've always enjoyed taking pictures. My first camera was a Polaroid Swinger (I won it selling magazines when I was a Junior in high school) and there have been quite a few others since then. Digital photography was one of the main reasons I bought my first computer - I also bought a "cutting edge" 1MP camera at the same time.
For years I wanted a DSLR but I kept talking myself out of it for fear I'd be unhappy with the extra weight and equipment to lug around. Plus there was that whole learning curve. I even convinced myself that the pictures wouldn't be that much better than what I was getting from the Canon S5is I bought in 2008. A few months ago I finally upgraded to a Canon Rebel T3i - mainly because my niece bought a T2i and proved that the pictures would/could definitely be better.
I have a lot to learn in order to feel comfortable with the big camera. Hopefully, this blog will push me to work on that. In the meantime, I'll be posting a mix of older pictures made with other cameras along with new ones made with the T3i. Constructive criticism and advice is more than welcome.
